“Canada is a big place and we want to go there for our 25th wedding anniversary,” was the blank canvas given to us by Mr and Mrs Young. They wanted as little flying as possible, as much variation as possible and the highlight was to be a cruise to Alaska on their anniversary itself.
There are no scheduled flights from the north of England to The west coast of Canada but there are charters. These tend to have restricted leg room but some have premium class seats with extra space. Charters only operate once or twice a week and coupled with this, cruises to Alaska don’t sail every day. This information gave us a starting date and a finishing date so we could then factor in the sailing timetable. Couple all this with dates of The Rocky Mountaineer train from Jaspar to Vancouver (Gold Leaf service with glass dome observation car) and we very nearly had a schedule for the whole holiday. Then we added sightseeing in The Rockies, Vancouver and the world famous Butchart Gardens on Victoria.
So what did Mr and Mrs Young say about theirholiday even before they got back home?
“Hi Mike! We just thought we’d drop you a note from Canada before we set off for home. We’ve had the most amazing holiday ever! It has all been wonderful. Everything in terms of planning has worked out very smoothly – no hitches at all. We’ll pop in to say thank you again when we get back, and I’ll get some photos online too at some point. So for now – a big thank you again!”
